VMware User Group Meeting in Munich on 19th of September 2016

The VMware User Group (VMUG) Germany South-East (Bavaria / Franconia) region meets today in the German VMware headquarters in Unterschleissheim near Munich.

Sponsor of the meeting and the associated evening event at the Oktoberfest is Zerto this time – a leading vendor of enterprise-class disaster recovery and business continuity software specifically for virtualized data centers and cloud environments.

After a short introduction, the meeting started with a summary of recent announcements by VMware delivered by Rüdiger Melzer, Systems Engineer at VMware Germany.

Next topic on the agenda is an overview on OpenStack and VMware’s cloud offerings delivered by Jens Soeldner, one of the organizers of the VMUG Germany SE (together with Dr. Fred Hantelmann) and co-author of our book on vRealize Automation.

After a lunch break, Dr. Michael Melter from idicos presented their solution hypnos that provides management for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for vSphere and ESXi servers.

Right after Michael’s presentation, Ben Geyer, Systems Engineer at Zerto for the DACH region took over. Ben was talking about protection a virtual environment against physical and logical errors and was presenting Zerto’s ground-breaking solution in depth.

The final speaker for the meeting is Dr. Udo Seidel, the German OpenStack guru who works for the airline booking provider Amadeus. Udo was presenting about Amadeus‘ experience and lessons learned with implementing VMware Integrated OpenStack.
